Back in May, we shared Graham Linehan’s comments regarding season 5 likely being the last season ever of the IT Crowd. Since then, there has been little or no further news in regards this statement or indeed any signs of season 5 actually going ahead. With Chris O’Dowd’s recent success in Hollywood, such as being cast in Judd Atapow’s Knocked Up spin-off alongside the likes of Paul Rudd and Megan Fox, and Richard Ayoade’s recent foray into directing with his critically acclaimed movie Submarine as well as having the opportunity to direct an episode of the hit US series Community, even the likelihood of a fifth season seems slim or at the very least it’ll be some time until it hits our screens.
So, I decided to revive my (and everyone else’s for that matter) love of the show by compiling and sharing with you all 7 of my favourite moments from the entire series. I hope you all enjoy reading/viewing this post as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Number 6 on my list comes from my favourite characters on the show, Douglas Reynholm played by Matt Berry. Berry’s unique voice and deliverance of one-liners, particularly from out of the blue, is phenomenal and almost guarentees to crack me up each time. The following clip comes from the third episode of season 3 – “Tramps Like Us” – in which Douglas is punished in a rather bizarre fashion following the settlement of the sexual harrasment lawsuit against Jen, Moss and Roy.
The quote from the following clip I carry around with me till this day and will often repeat it in an effort to worry computer illiterate people (like my mother). This comes from season 2, episode 5 – “Smoke and Mirrors”. In this scene, Roy and Moss have played a trick on Jen and makes her look like an idiot in front of her superiors.
Much like number 5 on this list, this comedy moment consists of Roy and Moss playing a trick on Jen which they initially think has backfired, but ultimately turns out much better than even they could’ve expected. This clip comes from season 3, episode 4 – “The Speech”.
In the following clip, taken from season 4, episode 5 – “Bad Boys” – there’s a bomb in the Reynholm building and Roy and Moss are put in the hands of Windows Vista…
Another Douglas Reynholm clip from “Tramps Like Us” – my favourite one-liner (if you can call it that?) from my favourite character from my favourite episode.
The very first entrance of my favourite character from the show following his father’s death – overly dramatic and as funny as hell, it reminds me of the fantastical TV Show Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place in which Matt Berry also starred. It’s taken from episode 2 of season 2 – “The Return of the Golden Child”.
Those are my 6 favourite scenes from the show…what are yours? Please share in the comments section below!

Jen’s floating head on “The Haunting of Bill Crouse” was my personal favorite single moment. “You bastard!”
That was a good one, Dan.
One I also liked, which didn’t quite make the top 6 was Roy and Moss’s Amsterdam story…that was gold!
The whole of the Gay: A Gay Musical episode.
‘I LOVE Willies’
‘Sir, could you keep it down?’
‘I’m disabled!…Leg disabled!’
