It seems that Sony Pictures are more than a little confident of the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man movie (which counts Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans amongst the impressive array of stars on the cast list) by greenlighting (if that’s a real word) the sequel already.
Last month we shared with you the highly impressive Amazing Spider-Man Comic-Con teaser trailer which not only showed an apparent darker version of the infamous web slinger, but also absolutely outstanding POV Spider-Man shots which simply blew me the hell away. From that point on I was completely sold, and judging by Sony’s actions a lot of other people were too.
Sony set the release date for Amazing Spider-Man 2 as May 2nd 2014 with a Sony Exec adding “I think it speaks volumes about our confidence in what we are seeing on the new film and our desire to move quickly on the next installment.”
This speaks volumes about what kind of business Sony believe the movie will do and with the over critical superhero audience to please, you can bet it’ll be based on the quality of the movie rather than making a quick buck from a piece of shit.
What do you think? Based on the teaser trailer alone, is Sony right to be this confident about the movie? Be heard in the comments section below!
