The new fall TV schedule is gearing up and hitting it’s full stride, and whilst the second season of The Walking Dead won’t be a part of the schedule until 16th October, their marketing campaign is just as impressive!
Todaty, four more mini teaser trailers have been released and we have them right here for you in all their blood, guts and glory!
The second season of the Walking Dead has been plagued by a good number of problems since the first season aired. The first being the firing of all season 1 writers soon after the first season aired, with the announcement that they’d decided to use freelance writers instead. The second was of course departure of showrunner Frank Darabont in late July 2011 after a disagreement with AMC Executives. This was speculated to have something to do with the second major problem befallen the awesome show – the budget.
His take on the issue when the budget cuts were first announced back at the end of May was:
Creatively I have no complaints thus far… But I believe if they do move ahead with what they’re talking about, it will affect the show creatively … in a negative way. Which just strikes me as odd. If you have an asset, why would you punish it?
Perhaps such comments was what got him in such hot water with the AMC execs, as there were reports months after Darabonts departure speculating that he was in fact fired by AMC.
All of this is a bitter pill to swallow of us Walking Dead fans and combined with the further speculation that the budget cuts on Walking Dead (and indeed the fantastical Breaking Bad too) in order to suppliment the station forerunner, Mad Men. The mind boggles at that logic, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
As most will already know, the second season will be 13 episodes this time around and will feature Grimes’ group of survivors leaving Atlanta for the countryside, including the Greene family farm and the Prison as per the comic book outline. How close this will stick with the comic book storyline is already in debate.
Last month we shared with you a full 5 minute trailer for the second season from Comic-Con in which we saw a lot of cool stuff to adequately tease us. Well now, we have a few more teasers to get the fans suitably riled. Check ‘em out:
Cool, huh? What do you think? Are you looking forward to the second season? Think it will be a flop without Darabont? Will the budget cuts affect the show that much? Please let me know in the comment section below!
