The Thor 2 Director Has Been Confirmed!

More Thor 2 Plot Details Emerge

It has been known for some time that Kenneth Branagh would not be returning to the helm of the second Thor movie, for reasons never truly developed or adequately divulged. Neverthless, a number of names have been attached to the sequel since, the most prominent being Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Luthor) and Patty Jenkins (Monster, The Killing, Entourage).

Well now Marvel have made their choice.

And they chose Patty Jenkins, a decision which kinda baffles me. She’s never really handled a project like this before nor directed anything of this size or scope before.

Okay, Monster was a good movie and I would imagine Entourage can be kind of a hard project to control, but still. At least Kirk’s experience with Game of Thornes and perhaps even Boardwalk Empire would of been in better preparation for the Thor sequel.

With Jenkins lack of experience, this is something of a brave move for Marvel considering the first Thor movie drew $448 million worldwide box office returns, based on a $150m budget. Perhaps Marvel saw something in Jenkins to prompt selection that thusfar eludes the casual geek observer? Or maybe Marvel just believe the movie will make money even if Jenkins drops the ball?

What do you think? Is Jenkins the right director for the job? If not, who would be your perfect candidate? Please let me know in the comment section below!

I’m not so sure about this. Monster was good, but it isn’t exactly proof she can handle this sort of thing.

Hmmm. Not so sure about this.
