Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game Potentially Get’s It’s Lead!

Ender's Game Get's Its Lead

It’s strange. News of the Ender’s Game movie adaptation seems familiar to me, yet I can’t seem to remember the announcement of such a monumental event. It could be the fact that I’m completely distraught by the turmoil surrounding my favourite show on TV at the moment, Community, or it could just be old age affecting my memory.

Regardless, I’m very much looking forward to the movie’s release as Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game remains one of my favourite novels of all time and I’m more than a little happy to see the project isn’t just a fanboy pipe dream, which was pretty much confirmed yesterday by the announcement of the lead character – Ender himself – potentially being cast in the movie.

Asa Butterfield cast as Ender in Orson Scott Card's Enders Game!

That’s right! According to Deadline Ender’s Game now potentially has its Ender – with Asa Butterfield, star of The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas, Hugo and arguably most recognised as Modred from the BBC TV series Merlin being offered the role.

The film is scheduled to be released on March 15th 2013 and will be directed by X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Tsotsi and Rendition director Gavin Hood.

Exciting news, no? What do you think? Are you looking forward to this movie? Do you think Asa will fit the role of Ender well? Also, how do you think Hood will cope directing this project? Please let me know in the comments section below!
