Ricky Gervais’ ‘Derek’ Trailer and Outtakes and UK Air Date Announced!

Karl Pilkington in Derek

Earlier in the week I shared with you a veritable info dump of Ricky Gervais information, including production progress on An Idiot Abroad 3, what Gervais and Merchant have in store for Life’s Too Short and of course Digital Spy’s review on the one-off comedy/drama starring Ricky Gervais’ new (or old, depending on who you ask) character Derek.

Well now we have a little more for you – now we have the offical Derek trailer and outtakes with the man himself…Karl Pilkington! Check it out!

The K-Man Act-eth!

You may have read in out previous post that Karl Pilkington will actually have an acting gig in Derek in which Digital Spy have surmised quite nicely in the following quote:

Karl Pilkington gives an effortlessly funny performance as Dougie, Derek’s friend and landlord. Given that this is the Idiot Abroad star’s first acting role, the character really is a thinly veiled version of Pilkington himself – even down to the “alwight”s. But that’s no bad thing.

Cool, right?

Air Date

The show will air in the UK on April 12th (just 7 days away! OMG!) on Channel 4 and I for one will be tuning in. There’s currently no information as to whether this will even air in the US, but given Gervais’ connection and fanbase in the US, I don’t imagine they’ll have to wait all that long to see it. If there’s any more information on that, I’ll be sure to let you know.

Trailer and Outtakes

So, enjoy the trailer…

What do you think? Is ‘Derek’ for you? UK readers – will you be tuning in on April 12th to watch the show? US readers – will you be looking out for this when it inevitably travels across the water? Please let me know in the comments section below – I’d love to hear from you!
