Watch the First 4+ Mins of Guy Pearce’s New Sci-Fi Flick Lockout Right Here!

Guy Pearce in Lockout

That’s right, Guy Pearce’s new science fiction flick is close to being released and thus the Hollywood marketing team has cranked promotion for the movie into full gear, releasing the first 4:42 minutes for us all to see and my god does it look good! Check it out!

Lockout

I’ve been looking forward to this movie since I first heard of its existence a couple of months back. Why? That’s easy: because I love a good science fiction flick and I think Guy Pearce is a fantastic actor. I loved his performances in Memento, LA Confidential and The Count of Monte Cristo and have been a fan ever since. As for the movie itself, the epic-sounding storyline and a strong cast and crew (particularly Luc Besson – I love his work and I was delighted to see that he had a hand in writing the movie) combine to be a really strong selling point for me.

What is Lockout?

The synopsis of the movie sounds tantilising to me, even if it is a little threadbare, and I think despite having limited information going into to see the movie, I’m going to be pleasantly surprised by what is produced and I think you all will too. The synopsis reads:

A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.

The only thing I can possibly pick out at this point is the role of Maggie Grace in the role of the Presidents daughter. Will she just be mimicking her role in Taken has the helpless damsel in distress or will this role have something more she sink her teeth into? If this character isn’t done right, it could get two dimensional real fast, but I think I’m being overly critical. This is just guesswork at this point – I have no information that would suggest Grace’s role will be anything close to what I’ve described, but the fear is there.

The Trailer

The trailer is 4:42 minutes of electrifying action, which quite frankly proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Pearce is more than capabale of handling an action role. The footage is fast paced, furious and funny (a couple of excellent one-liners in there that had me laughing out loud) all at the same time and clearly the writing for the movie is excellent from the footage I’ve seen (with Besson, I’m not surprised).

Overall, this trailer is well worth a watch and I think this movie will be something awesome too. Check out the trailer right here:

The movie will be released in the US opn 13th April, in the UK on 20th April.

What did you think? Movie look good? Will you be going to watch this at the cinema? Please let me know in the comments section below – I’d love to hear your opinion!
