That’s right, today the news I’ve been waiting for months has finally arrived: Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill for finally has a production date! Can you say awesomeo?
The last news we reported regarding the sequel to Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s amazing Sin City movie was way bacvk in August when we reported that Oscar Winning Writer William Monahan had been brought into the project to work on the script but after that news regarding the movie kinda when dead for a while…until now.
Miller and Rodriguez have been promising work on the sequel ever since the release of the first movie back in 2005, but now have set a production date of ‘this summer’ and have announced that casting will official start next week! FINALLY!
“The first question I’m always asked is ‘When will you make another Sin City?’” Rodriguez said in the press release regarding the sequel. “I’ve wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but we have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait!”
Also revealed is the fact that althought the sequel will be based on the comic book story arc “A Dame to Kill For”, Empire has reported that early intel suggests there will be two additional story installments which do not appear in the original comic book – I’m very intrigued indeed!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I cannot wait for this movie! When the first hit the cinema I was blown away by how awesome it was. It was one of those films that makes you question everything you knew about the Hollywood movie and comes at you from an angle you couldn’t even perceive of. I just hope the sequel will be as perceptive and just plain good as the first, but with The Departed’s William Monahan at the helm I don’t doubt it for a second.
What do you think? Are you looking forward to this movie as much as I am? Please let me know in the comment section below!
