Following the speculation regarding Joseph Godon-Levitt’s REAL character in The Dark Knight Rises, news about Christopher Nolan’s third installment of the revamped Batman franchise is coming thick and fast with updates regarding how much IMAX footage will actually appear in the final cut and when we can expect a new trailer for the movie!

I have to admit, I’m an IMAX man. I love making the extra effort and travelling to the nearest IMAX cinema (not my local cinema, might I add) for movies that I know I’ll love. I think it’s because it’s easier for me to become immersed in the fictional world that is playing out before my eyes. I even take in movies at the IMAX which haven’t been specifically shot in the IMAX format. I think it’s much better than the 3D format – by a mile.
So imagine my delight to learn that not only will Dark Knight Rises appear in IMAX, but will also contain IMAX shot footage. How much? Well according to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, Dark Knight Rises will have more IMAX footage ever in a Hollywood movie, banking over 1 hour’s worth in the final cut. Can you say awesomeo?
When questioned opn his fondness for IMAX in his movies, Nolan thought back to watching Museum of Science and Industry movies such as ‘Everest’ and ‘To Fly’. “I remember looking at the audience every time a helicopter banked, and everyone was leaning slightly to the side,” he recalled. “I had never seen an audience so immersed in a film.”
Indeed, in an interview with DGA regarding his movies, Nolan further explains:
We didn’t shoot IMAX for Inception because we were trying to portray the reality of dreams rather than their extraordinary nature, so we used a handheld camera and shot it in a more spontaneous way. Whereas the operatic quality of The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises felt very well suited to IMAX’s larger canvas. So it’s different depending on what film you want to do. But, in each case, as a filmmaker who’s been given sizable budgets with which to work, I feel a responsibility to the audience to be shooting with the absolute highest quality technology that I can and make the film in a way that I want.
I couldn’t agree more!
Now for news regarding the new Dark Knight Rises trailer, you’re never gonna believe when we’ll see it! According to MTV, the new Dark Knight Rises trailer will appear right before the Avengers movie! That’s right! The two rival comic book movie summer blockbusters set to butt heads over the biggest box office will combine to provide cinema-goers a double delight of awesomeness! But will this is set to sway the final box office takings more towards Dark Knight Rises or was that inevitable any way? Will the combined star power and quality of the Avengers beat out the Dark Knight this summer? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
