With the explosive ending to the second season of HBO’s fantastical Prohibition Era drama series Boardwalk Empire still in the forefront of our minds, anticipation for the third season is paramount and now series creator Terence Winter has given something else for fans of the show something to smile about – the desire for the show to run at least 6 seasons!
Can you say awesomeo?
The third season of Boardwalk Empire will air this autummn and news regarding the new season is sparse at best. However, we do know that the drama will jump ahead a year following the dramatic events in the second season finale. “It’s New Year’s Eve 1922, going into 1923,” Winter has said in a interview with Vulture, “The world has changed quite a bit. Things have gotten quite a bit more violent as Prohibition has gone on and people are running out of liquor. Hence Nucky’s world is going to change.”
But about behyond season 3? Terence Winter clearly has and reading between the lines (i.e. hoping for the best because the show is fickin’ awesome) it seems he has a basic layout for at least 6 seasons!
Speaking at the Baniff World Media Festival in Alberta, Canada he said, “God willing we could run six years that would be wonderful for me. But I take it one season at a time. It would be terrific.”
And if you weren’t teased about the third season enough, here’s the official HBO teaser trailer to tip you over the edge:
