Cumberbatch to Voice Simpson’s Character

Benedict Cumberbatch to Guest on the Simpson's

It’s something most actors making their break in Hollywood just have to do. To guest star on the Simpson’s can be a measuring stick as to whether actor’s have ‘made it’ or not.

Given the popularity of Sherlock and an number of other significant roles, I guess it was only a matter of time before Benedict Cumberbatch snagged a role.

But was it a measure of rising stardom or a case of being in the right place at the right time? According to Cumberbatch, it was the latter:

“I was at a meeting in the same place The Simpsons is recorded and heard there was a part going in an episode. I said ‘I hate to muscle in here guys but could I record it?’ Next thing, I’m standing in a room with all those famous voices; Bart, Marge, Homer, Lisa.”

Details as to what Cumberbatch’s role will entail have yet to be released, but judging by this statement I guess it’s safe to say that it won’t be a play on his famed Sherlock character, but something else entirely. Interesting.

I’ll keep you updated as and when more details on the role become available.

What do you think? Excited to see what role Cumberbatch will play? Or will you just be watching the episode to get your Cumberbatch fix before the LONG wait for Sherlock season 3 to hit our screens? Let me know in the comments section below – I’d love to hear your opinion!
