Bryan Singer is awesome. Battlestar Galactica is awesome. Bryan Singer + Battlestar Galactica? SUPER AWESOME!
Read and hear what Singer has to say about his new project below!
Bryan Singer had me at The Usual Suspects. It’s that simple. Sure he’s made some bad movies in the meantime, but I’m more than willing to overlook that. Especially if his proposed plan to reboot The Battlestar Galactica franchise onto the big screen comes into fruition.
Okay, the whole ‘Hollywood doing yet ANOTHER reboot’ debate can come into play here considering the epic TV series only concluded in 2009, but I have to admit, as a fanboy, I just want to see the franchise on the big screen. Can the movie even come close to the TV series? I’m not so sure, but if anybody can do it, it’s Singer…I hope.
I first heard about the project back in October when Blastr reported that the script for the Battlestar Galactica movie was being penned by John Orloff (Band of Brothers / Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole).
Well now there’s an update on that script. In the IGN Interview Bryan Singer confirms “I have a script that’s in revisions right now, and it’s very cool.”
And when queried whether the series will exist in the classic Battlestar Galactica universe as depicted by Glen Larson or the new universe by Ron Moore, he says “It will exist, I think, quite well between the Glen Larson and Ron Moore universes, but that’s all I want to say about it,” Singer said. “But it’s evolving quite well, and quite recently. I’ve been developing this for a while, and certain things came to fruition recently, and I hope to do it.”
Cool huh? Take a look at the full IGN Interview below:
What do you think? Looking forward to seeing Battlestar Galactica on the big screen? Do you have faith in Bryan Singer and John Orloff to make this a credit to the franchise? Let me know in the comments below – it’d be awesometastic to hear your opinion!
