That’s right – new Neuromancer concept art and official confirmation Liam Neeson and Mark Wahlberg have been offered roles. Can you say awesomeo?
Check it out!
William Gibson’s Neuromancer is one of the best science fiction novels of all time and I still maintain to this day, it contains THE greatest opening line for a novel there has ever been:
“The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel.”
It paints such a clear picture and dictates the whole damn tone of the book. Simply awesome.
Anyway, this isn’t the first time Neuromancer has been considered for a movie adaptation. Far from it. In fact there have been at least several attempts to convert the epic novel into movie format, but none of them ever got past the script stage. Except recently when it was confirmed that Cube director Vicenzo Natali had been hired to direct the flick.
Then, just to show us all the producers of the movie mean business, two major Hollywood names were banded around in association with the film. Those names? Only Liam Neeson and Mark Wahlberg. It’s safe to say this attempt at getting Gibson’s awesome novel adapted into a movie has clearly bypassed all other attempts.
Does this guarentee the movie will be made? Of course not. But according to the movie’s official website, it seems they definitely mean business: “Pay or Play offers have been made to Liam Neeson for Armitage and Mark Wahlberg for Case.”
Can you say awesomeo? I should hope so. But wait, there’s more! Today also see’s concept art from the movie released and by good does it look good. In fact, it looks exactly how I pictured the world William Gibson painted to be. Check it out:
What do you think? Will Neuromancer happen? Will Neeson and Wahlberg sign on for the roles? Are you happy with those casting choices? What about the concept art? Does it bode well for the movie? Let me know what you think in the comments section below – it’d be awesometastic to hear from you!
