Joss Whedon Officially Signs on to Write & Direct The Avengers 2…and more!

That’s right! Joss Whedon has officially signed on to write and direct the Avengers sequel! Can you say awesomeo?

The Avengers was easily one of the best films of the year (second only to The Dark Knight rises in my opinion). It grossed a phenomenal $1.5 billion worldwide, so it can come as no surprise that Marvel insisted on the Buffy The Vampire / Firefly creator’s return for the sequel.

The news was released only moments ago by Disney CEO Bob Iger at the company’s earnings call.

Iger also announced that Whedon will also take charge of the Live Action Marvel TV series for ABC that has been hitting the news recently. The series is supposed to be based around S.H.I.E.L.D.
