According to Director Adam McKay, The Boys Movie is Still Happening!

That’s right – word is The Boys comic book adaptation is still happening! Can you say awesomeo?

The Boys is offensive. It’s violent. It’s gory. It’s entiely awesome. With excellent writing from Garth Ennis and excellent penicls from Darrick Robertson, it can come as a surprise to nobody that The Boys is one of the best comic book titles on the market right now. Sadly, it’s come to an end. The title is wrapping up its story for good and is set to be ending with something of a bang.

Movie

There was talk of a movie adaptation for some time. Right from the outset actually, with the lead character of the title being pencilled to look remarkably like Simon Pegg. However, due to it’s violent nature and irreverant look on the traditional superhero, the idea kind of fell to the wayside. Even when Anchorman/Step Brothers director Adam McKay was attached to the adaptation, news regarding the project was sparse.

But yesterday, fanboys everywhere were given hope of the movie actually happening. How? By the director confirming it was still in development.

How did THAT happen?

It happened over Twitter. A fan called Shaun Barger (@ShaunBarger) tweeted him with, “Just saw that The Boys is no longer happening. Sorry to hear it! Would have loved to see your adaptation.”

Adam McKay (@GhostPanther) responded with this, “Actually paramount picked it up and we’re still developing.”

Can you say awesomeo? So where’s the new on the project? Where are the development updates? God knows. Perhaps they’re waiting for the comic book title to end its run? Possibly. Either way I cannot wait for this movie to land!
