ABC Greenlights Joss Whedon’s Marvel TV Series ‘S.H.I.E.LD’

Joss Whedon hints at Bigger Roster for Avengers 2

That’s right my fellow geeks – ABC have OFFICIALLY greenlight Joss Whedon’s new Marvel TV series entiteld ‘S.H.I.E.L.D’. Can you say awesomeo?

At the start of the month, I shared with you all the breaking news that Joss Whedon had been officially signed on to write and direct the Avengers sequel. I also broke the news that hed also been signed on to develop the forthcoming TV show. Faboys everywhere fainted. Including myself. In took me an hour from finding out about it all, to writing the article. I mean, as a geekt it’s really difficult NOT to be excited about this right?

Not only will the show be developed by a guy who has brought us Firefly, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel and has rarely produced a bad TV show, but it’s the guy who will be actively working on the Avengers sequel. Think on that a second. Think about how Marvel have made it so all the precursor movies have had an underlying plot. Then apply that to a Joss Whedon-helmed TV show.

Sorry, I just fainted again. On my keyboard.

Deadline reports that the show will be co-written by Whedon’s frequent collaborators – his brother Jed and Maurissa Tancharoen and production is to start immediately. Yes, that’s right. Immediately.

I can’t wait for this series to becoem a reality – what about you? Let me know in the comments section below – it’d be awesome to hear from you.
