Uh-oh fellow geeks – Nathan Fillion has come forth today and said it’s very unlikely he’ll take a role in The Guardians of the Galaxy! Booooooooo! Read more about it below!
The link between Nathan Fillion and the Guardians of the Galaxy Star-Lord character was inevitable. I mean, he’s basically the Marvel universe’s answer to Mal Reynolds – the similarities are glaringly obvious. Now add to the fact Fillion’s long time collaborator Joss Whedon is now has a major hand in the Marvel universe AND other collaborator James Gunn (whom worked with Fillion on Super and Slither).
It was practically written in the stars, but sadly it probably won’t come to pass.
MTV today had the opportunity to ask Fillion whether he would consider the role of Peter Quill – Star-Lord.
“I’m very busy right now with a job that I’m grateful for,” Fillion told MTV News. “I’ve made a commitment [to 'Castle'] and I have to see it through. And I’m really happy to.”
However, Fillion is more than confident that Gunn is the man for the job.
“We had dinner the other night and he told me all about it, before everyone found out,” Fillion said. “I was on the inside on that one. Over some toro, tuna belly, we discussed how excited he is, how nervous he is, but how he wanted it very badly. He wanted it very badly. I think it’s in very capable hands. It’s in the right hands. Having worked with the man, I know what he’s capable of.”
Will there be any lee-way in Fillion’s Castle schedule that will allow him to take the role? Can you see it happening? Do you think Fillion is right for the role of Star-Lord? Or is it too similar to his Mal Reynolds character for him to take? Let me know what you think in the comments section below – it’d be awesome to hear your opinion!
