John Simm wants to Return as The Master

Doctor Who Christmas 2012 Teaser Trailer

That’s right – John Simm, the actor behind The Master in Doctor Who, would like to return to the show! Check it out!

The Master

Visiting the Cheltenham Literature festival last week, The Radio Times reports that John Simm broached the subject of a possible return as villain The Master.

“I’d love the opportunity to play him differently,” he told the festival’s audience. “I’d love to have another take on him, to be a bit quieter.”

For those who aren’t aware of the character, the Master is a renegade Time Lord and an arch nemesis to the good doctor. John Simm was the seventh actor to play the character and was last seen in the Doctor Who 2009 Christmas Special Arc “The End of Time”.

“I started annoying myself after a while,” he confessed. “Russell T Davies had a specific idea of what he wanted him to be like. So I just had to do exactly what he wanted me to, and he wanted a giggling lunatic.”

But now that Russell T Davies has left the writing duties for the show, replaced by Steven Moffat, Simm revealed he would love to make a return and “take the Master to a very, very dark place.”

What Do You Think?

Whether he will or not is another matter entirely, but I sure like the idea of it. What about? Would you like to see John Simm return as The Master? Would you like the character to be darker? Let me know in the comments section below – it’d be awesome to hear your opinion!

Hm well considering that the master tried to replace earth with a gallifray locked in a time paradox…thing…I think that the return of the master has had its run. Granted he did a good job. However Matt Smith might be in the transition of exiting. Its the same problem with the Daleks. Though they are a popular enemy that always seem to return no matter what. Instead of focusing on on The Doctors enemy’s. Maybe getting to know him a little more would be a could exit note.

The fall of the 11′th should not include the master; as the master has re-surfaced only to become a convoluted predictable nuisance.

Mind you the actor is wonderful…the character…not so much..

I’m a fan of John Simm too.

I think Moffat could do well updating the character now, as I personally rate his shows over Russell T Davies. What about you?

I think that the master could possibly eventually be a vital part of the story. But the problem is; is that we are seeing more stories about the Doctor’s companions then the actual doctor. The title of the show is “Dr. Who” A question that has been asked ever since he was an old man in a landfill.

Now its true that because of alot of things happened that’s convoluted the story. Its still essentially about a time traveler who keeps saving earth over and over again. Moffat has done a wonderful job of telling interesting stories. but every time they try to edge the Dr. along the companions get in the way.

Russell T Davies was obsessed with Rose and making everyone fall in love with the Doctor. Case in point. There were times “Being a time lord.” Dr. Who knew exactly where they were and what was going on. Other times…they would land in london…again…and would have no idea what was going on.

At least Moffat was able to remind viewers that the tardis can land on other countries rather then the UK.

XD The Master…right…so…I think an update would not really be an update. There are actors who have portrayed The Master as a Dark evil quiet villain. But what’s going to happen; the master has pretty much lost his last hope of redemption (When the tenth doctor tries to be nice and help him) and spits on it. So what would be the point of bringing the master back? Right now the most unexpected thing he could do would be to turn face and help the Doctor do…whatever…..
