Ming-Na Wen cast in Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D TV Show

That’s right, Ming-Na Wen has been cast in Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D TV Show! Find out more below!

Casting

Earlier this month, I revealed the details behind the new characters for Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D TV show as well confirming that Agent Coulson will be the lead for the show.

Now, Deadline are reporting that another character has been cast and that character is Agent Melinda May.

Who the hell is that?

Deadline describes Agent Melinda May as “Soulful and slightly damaged by her combat experiences, Melinda is an ace pilot, a weapons expert and a soldier who can — and has — gone beyond the call of duty”.

As you may be aware, there is no Agent Melinda May in the cast details I mentioned earlier and that’s because the character has been renamed. Apparently, Agent Melinda May is supposed to be the previously mentioned Agent Althea Rice who was described as “Also known as “The Calvary,” this hard-core soldier has crazy skills when it comes to weapons and being a pilot. But her experiences have left her very quiet and a little damaged.”

No reason has been given for the name change, but it may be a reasonable assumption is has something to do with the actress cast in the role: Ming-Na Wen of Eureka and Stargate Universe fame.
