That’s right – it has been confirmed today that Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. will begin production mid-January 2013! Find out more below!
News about Joss Whedon’s new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show is coming thick and fast. Earlier in the month, at the New York Comic Con, I revealed that Agent Coulson will indeed be speer-heading the show despite the characrer’s apparent death in the Avengers movie (I suspect the TV show will take place before the movie, but that’s just one man’s opinion). Next I reported that Ming-Na Wen had been cast as a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in the show.
And now, a date has apparently been confirmed as to when the show will begin to shoot.
The information was released with the Television Show Auditions website, which listed a casting call for the show and stating that shooting would indeed commence mid-January.
“‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sharing constancy with the films in that franchise,” the listing reads. “‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will be independent from ‘The Avengers’ film, and people who haven’t seen the Marvel movies can jump right in and understand the storylines. There will generally be new characters and agents who are not superheroes, and even though they are a large organization, they will be underdogs since they still exist in that superhero universe. Clark Gregg is playing Agent Phil Coulson, the same role he has played in ‘Iron Man’ I & II, ‘Thor,’ and ‘The Avengers.’ The series will center on his character. Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee Ming-Na Wen has been cast as Agent Melinda May, an ace pilot and weapons expert.
Are you looking forward to the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show? How do you think Agent Coulson will fit into the show? Will they bring him back from the dead or will the show be a prequel? Let me know what you think in the comments section below – it’d be awesome to hear your opinion!
