That’s right – Martin Sheen will reprise his character of Uncle Ben in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel! Awesomeo!
But we expected nothing less, right? I mean the late (and great) Cliff Robertson did pretty much the same thing in the first Spider-Man trilogy right?
Well today, this was confirmed. As was Martin Sheen’s shooting start:
“Well they called me back”, he told RTE. “I don’t know what the part’s going to be but I’m going to be Uncle Ben once again in Spider-Man next year. We shoot in February”.
Obviously, he’ll appear in either flashback or dream sequences – my bet is the former.
But I think in this movie, Uncle Ben’s return will have little more substance than Sam Raimi’s trilogy.
Why? Well, the first movie delved a little deeper into the disappearance of Peter’s parents and precisely what they were involved in. I full expect the second movie to expand on that and judging by the post credit sequence, I think it’s pretty much a guarantee.
Are you glad to have Sheen back in the fold? Do you think the underlying story will not only continue in the second movie, but will be expanded? Let me know what you think in the comments section below – it’d be awesome to hear your opinion!
