Can you say awesomeo?
The announcement came via Bryan Singer’s twitter feed earlier this morning / last night depending on what part of the world you’re from:

The announcement follows the confirmations earlier in the month that Ellen Page will be returning to her role as Shadowkat, Shawn Ashmore returns as Iceman, Anna Paquin as Rogue, Patrick Stewart as Profession X and Ian McKellan as Magneto.

Given the duplication of characters, younger and older, it would be safe to assume that The Days of Future Past classic story will be maintained in some part. That story alternates between the present day (which in this context could be the characters from X-Men: First Class) and the Dystopian future in which Mutants live in internment camps. This is due to Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. Shadowkat manages to forewarn the X-Men of the past, but can they do anything about it?
Should the storyline be similar to this I would imagine the storyline would feature the X-Men trying to stop The Brotherhood from this assassination attempt, but I wouldn’t imagine the movie to be without a few twists and turns along the way.
So the question becomes – just who will Peter Dinklage portray in the movie? Pip The Troll (not mutant, nor in this storyline but I think he’d pull it off no problems)? Puck from Alpha Flight? Nimrod perhaps?
The movie is scheduled for release July 2014.
Are you happy about Dinklage’s inclusion? Which character do you think he’ll play? Let me know in the comments below – it’d awesome to hear your opinion!
