Chris Cooper Cast as Norman Osborn in Amazing Spider-Man 2!

That’s right, Chris Cooper joins the extensive cast of Amazing Spider-Man 2 as Norman Osborn!

Inevitable

We knew it was coming. We knew Norman Osborn would feature – in person this time – in the second movie, considering the constant references to the character in the first and the inclusion of Harry Osborn in the movie.

The question is, where will the villain fit into the movie? We already have Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti as The Rhino and Dane DeHaan as Norman Osborn. Is there really room for another villain.

I have great faith in Marc Webb, so I’m trying to not view all of these powerful characters crammed together in a negative light. I’m just concerned we don’t have another Sam Raimi Spider-Man 3 disaster happen here, where the villains take precedence over the story.

That said, we still don’t know how the characters will be used. I fully expect Norman Osborn to stay as Norman Osborn throughout the entire movie, acting as a conduit between the protagonist and antagonists and then perhaps build up to him turning into the Green Goblin in the third movie. Maybe.

It’ll be interesting to see exactly what they do with the characters.
