As we all know, Arrested Development will soon be making a triumphant return via Netflix – but what about the much rumoured movie?
Show creator, Mitch Hurwitz, fills us in on the details right here – check it out!
The rumours of an Arrested Development movie have been circulating ever since the series first went off air back in 2006. The cast, however, split and went their seperate ways, working on different projects and most becoming very successful. Still, most people were all but certain there still would be a movie.
However, as the years passed without word on the project and the show left a lot of people’s immediate memories, the chances serious dwindled.
Until of course the fourth season was picked up by Netflix. Ever since then, the fans have been going wild, eager to see more of their favourite dysfunctional family. With the series returning, rumours regarding the movie also resurfaced and just as before, show creator Mitch Hurwitz is confident a deal will be struck.
The question of the movie was broached at the recent SXSW festival in Austin, Texas yesterday in which Hurwitz and cast members Will Arnett and Jeffrey Tambor made guest appearances. “I’m confident that we will succeed at that,” he teased.
Arnett was the one who advised that there was no actual movie deal at the moment, but advised the popularity for the show is still there. “People are already mad and they haven’t even seen this.”
Which is a fact that can’t be ignored. Since the announcement that the show will be returning via Netflix, the fan fare has been spreading all across the internet to the point where it seems absolutely ridiculous for the show not to get picked up as a movie. The audience is already there; the box office is theirs for the taking.
