That’s right – the new Wolverine trailer has landed! Check it out right here!

From all I’ve seen of the new Wolverine movie, it’s certainly shaping up to be a better movie than its predecessor – X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but I guess it’s too early to tell at this stage.

Sure, all the trailers and images we’ve seen from the movie are shaping up to be a more grounded story, rather than “let’s throw all the popular characters at the movie and let’s see what happens” approach but it’s far too early to tell whether it’ll be cobbled together to make a good movie.

That said, I’m quietly confident.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Joss Whedon talks Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in the Avengers sequel

That’s right – Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch will be in the Avengers Sequel! Check out what Joss Whedon has to say about them!

In many of his previous interviews the highly sought after Joss Whedon has previously alluded to a brother/sister combination being a part of the Avengers Sequel.

Since the choice of characters in this regard is rather limited and the two candidates for the role are blindingly obvious to any comic book geek with a passing knowledge of the Marvel comic book universe, it was later confirmed by a number of sources that the characters Whedon alluded two are Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch.

For non-comic book aficionado’s out there, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are both mutants and the children of the Mutant Terrorist Magneto. In the comic books, they were members of the mutant terrorist group The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants who converted to good and were controversial choices to be part of The Avengers team.

Speaking about the pairs appearance in the upcoming Avengers sequel, Whedon said:

“You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.”

Doctor Who Confirmed for Season 8

That’s right – Doctor Who has been confirmed for a 8th season! Can you say awesomeo?

A new season was pretty much set in stone. The show has a life of it’s own and seems to be gaining new fans on a weekly basis. I think partly because the nature of the show excludes nobody – sci-fi geeks and regularly viewers can clamber around a TV set and watch the show together.

The 8th season was pretty much guaranteed, probably the only question which lingered in most people’s minds was: will Steven Moffat return to write and produce the show?

The answer is an emphatic: YES!

There was an article on the BBC Doctor Who Blog this past Saturday which confirmed both entirely awesome facts:

We’re delighted to confirm a new series of Doctor Who has been commissioned and the show’s lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat, has revealed he’s already plotting a brand new run of adventures for the Doctor.

Catch the first Look at The Rhino in Amazing Spider-Man 2!

That’s right – the first pictures of Paul Giamatti portraying the infamous Spider-Man villain, The Rhino, have surfaced on the interwebs and I have them right here for ya!

Okay, before you see the pictures I have to prepare you for something you might not like: these pictures don’t actually show Paul Giamatti in the Rhino costume.

Will the Rhino wear the Rhino costume in the movie? Probably not. Giamatti is billed as Aleksei Mikhailovich Sytsevich a.k.a The Rhino which suggests to me the filmmakers have raised the fans hopes by calling a regular gangster The Rhino, but you never know. These scenes could be before Giamatti is put in the suit. I doubt it because I doubt there’ll be enough time to tell that story, but again: you never know.

I just hope they butcher the character much like Iron Man 3 did with The Mandarin – I still find that a bitter pill to swallow.

Do I think he should? Of course. I love the Rhino character; I find the simplicity of the character, pardon the pun, amazing and oddly comforting.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release on May 2nd 2014. What will the story focus upon? Check out the synopsis below:

That’s right – the new Arrested Development teaser trailer has landed – check it out!

Arrested Development season 4 is fast approaching its 26th May release date and I personally can’t wait. I judge Arrested Development to be one of the all-time classic comedies to come out of the US and like every other eager fan out there, I can’t wait for the show to be back on air.

But there’s one lingering thing stuck at the back of my mind – will the show still be as good as once was? Is the act stale? Have the actors lost it? Has the moment for Arrested Development long since past us by?

Bubble Watch: Will Community Survive Cancellation?

Anybody who reads this blog will already know what I’m about to say already – I love Community.

It’s easily the funniest, cleverest and geekiest comedy show on TV and it’s kind of addictive. And by kind of, I mean entirely.

But will my favourite comedy show survive cancellation?

As it Stands

Let’s take a look at the situation as it stands; NBC, the network broadcasting Community, have already made a decision regarding some of their shows and thus far I feel they’ve chosen correctly.

Firstly, Parks and Recreation, my second favourite comedy show on TV right now, was renewed for a sixth last night. I love this show. I love the characters and I love the humour. Quality television right here.

In addition to the news of a renewal, came two cancellations in the form of Whitney and 1600 Penn. I didn’t watch either show so I can’t really pass judgement on their quality, other than I’m glad Parks and Rec was chosen over these two, but this proves a little worrying for Community.

Why? Let me explain.

All three shows joined Community’On the Bubble’ i.e. the network hadn’t made a decision about their future. Despite this uncertainty, the boys over at TV By The Numbers write regular updates about such show and determine how likely they are to be renewed.

So far, they’ve got a couple of predictions right. They determined that Parks and Rec had 100% chance of being renewed (which it did) and that 1600 Penn had 0% chance of being renewed (which it didn’t).

However, it gets a little bit more worrying when it comes to Whitney. They gave Whitney a 51-55% chance of being renewed and as I reported above, it hasn’t.

So where is Community on this list? Community got a 52-60% chance of being renewed.

So what does this mean? It means Community could still go either way depending on which direction the network.

Impending Doom?

But don’t let the lack of NBC decision fool you; the fate of Community may well and truly be sealed.

The show has suffered a good number of setbacks leading up to the previous season which many believed sealed the fate of the show; the show creator Dan Harmon was essentially fired, one of the lead cast (Chevy Chase) members threw a tantrum and walked out on the show and the season air date was pushed back four months.

It was indeed worrying times for Community fans, but things got worse.

Show creator Dan Harmon was replaced by Just Shoot Me writers Moses Port and David Guarascio in the hopes of appealing to a wider audience. Fans of the show worried that this would bring an end to it’s quirky and deeply embedded geek nature that made the show endearing. But it didn’t. The content of the show remained as awesome as ever, but that didn’t help with viewing figures.

The ratings for the new season disappointed, with the show on April 25th dipping to a series low in the 18-to-49 ratings category – the category the advertisers of the show monitor most.

Fate sealed?

So is Community’s fate well and truly sealed? The answer is no. The show is still on the bubble and could go either way.

But Community has a lot more to offer than the likes of Whitney and 1600 Penn. The show has amassed a fierce and loyal audience, obtaining the mantle of cult classic with relative ease. Fans would kill for the show, I have no doubt (don’t get any ideas, NBC).

The show has also gathered the required number of episodes required for syndication which has the potential to be a real money-maker for the network. Will NBC be willing to give that up?

I doubt it and I doubt this is the last we’ve seen of the show.

And yes, I still think it’s a million times better than The Big Bang Theory.

8. His Star-Burns Bright

In at number 8 on this entirely awesome list, is the “His Star Burns Bright” T-Shirt created by Tom Kurzanski.

For those of you unfamiliar with the show or are wondering just what the hell this t-shirt is about, the design is based on an episode at the end of the third series in which a subsiduary character by the name of Star Burns (he crafts his spectacular sideburns into stars – hence the name) dies in an explosion – he was cooking meth in the back of his van the venture goes terribly wrong.

Or is he? A montage at the end of the season shows that he faked his own death. To what end? Nobody knows for sure, but for whatever reason this design is awesome!

7. Troy and Abed’s Dope Adventures

In at number 7 is the awesome “Troy and Abed’s Dope Adventures” design by Megan Lara.

I really like this design really emphasises the childlike relationship Troy and Abed share in the show and also because it’s based on a popular Calvin & Hobbes design.

The inspiration for the design clearly came from Troy’s line in the show “You should be like Calvin. His best friend was a tiger, he always went on dope adventures, and if anything stood in his way, he just peed on it.” which I find totally cool.

6. Inspector Spacetime Blorgon Edition

In at number 6 is the “Inspector Spacetime Blorgon Edition” by RexRayGun.

No Community based list of awesome t-shirt design would ever be complete without an Inspector Spacetime t-shirt. Inspector Spacetime is a fictional television show in the Community universe very clearly based on Dr. Who. The crew wean Abed onto the show after he’s upset that his favourite TV programme has been cancelled.

I think the design is pretty cool and adaptable to a variety of different t-shirt colors. It combines all aspects of Inspector Spactime you need as well as having a real eye-catching design. Awesome.

5. Donde Esta La Biblioteca

In at number 5 is the “Donde Esta La Biblioteca” design by Megan Lara.

The design name comes from the super awesome Spanish rap Troy and Abed develop in the first season of the show and the design itself is an artist imagining of the Greendale Community College crest. The design features a number of awesome in jokes such as “Annie’s Boob’s” the Monkey, the Chicken Fingers from season one’s “Contemporary American Poultry” show, the Greendale Community College Mascot – The Greendale “Human Being” and of course the man himself Magnitude – “Pop Pop”! Awesome design.

4. Paintballers

In at number 4 is the “Paintballers” design by WinterArtwork.

I love this design because not only does it reference Community, but it also references one of my favourite film franchises ever – The Ghostbusters. Major geekage and a complete win for me.

The design is based on the entirely awesome “Fistfull of Paintballs” and “For a Few Paintballs More” episodes from the end of the second season. As the titles would suggest, the arc has a very Spaghetti Western feel to it and is a very well crafted story – if you haven’t done already, you should definitely check them out.

3. Greendale Seven

In at number 3 is entirely awesome “Greendale Seven” design by Mark Wesler.

The design is mash-up of the ultra-stylistic Ocean’s Eleven (the original’s my fav BTW) and the awesome Community story arc at the end of the third season. I love it because the design is just breath-takingly gorgeous to look at as well as being a creative way to do a mash-up. Love it.

2. Changlourious Basterds

The runner-up in my list is this “Changlorious Basterds” design by Megan Lara.

I love this design because it’s another great mash-up design, but with one of my favourite movies of all time: Quentin Tarantino’s awesome war movie Inglorious Basterd’s. The design is awesome and no list could ever be complete without reference to the awesomeness of Senor Chang. The design epitomises the character so well from the story arc at the end of the third season it’s unreal and it’s so well crafted. A very deserving second for me.

1. E Pluribus Anus

And my FAVOURITE Community t-shirt design is “E Pluribus Anus” by Tom Trager.

One of my favourite laugh out loud moments from the entire show is when we find out that the Greendale Community College flag has been design to remarkably resemble an anus and this is that design. So not only do you get to walk around with, for all intents and purproses, an anus on your t-shirt but you get to walk around with anus made up of 20 awesome iconic artifacts from the show.

I love it – fantastic design, awesome concept.

“The World’s End” Trailer Has Landed!

That’s right – the official trailer has landed! Check it out!

The World’s End fever is upon us! At the end of last month I revealed that The World’s End will be released a month early, now scheduled to be hitting cinema’s on 19th July and today the official trailer has been released.

And it’s awesome.

The World’s End is Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright’s third and final part to their “Blood And Ice Cream Trilogy” or the “Three Flavours of Cornetto Trilogy”, which previously included Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz and will be about five childhood friends reunite to embark upon an epic pub crawl born in 20 years previously in their past. They try to reunite and reconcile, but unwittingly end up becoming mankind’s last hope for survival.

Actors and Disney ready to clash over the Avengers Sequel

With Iron Man 3 killing it in the box office and other Phase 2 movies looking to follow in suit (thought maybe not to such an extent) Disney are now looking forward to the Avengers sequel for another massive pay day, but will everything go as smoothly as they’d hoped? Most likely not.

The actors and Disney are set to clash over pay for the forthcoming Avengers sequel, with prospective figures looking to dent the studio’s potential profits considerably. What will Disney do? How will they respond? Bow to the star power or recast?

Not confirmed

The problems stem from Robert Downey Jr. recently putting into question whether he’ll actually return as the Tony Stark character. Downey Jr. has saw nothing but success and copious amounts of money thanks to the role, but worries about being typecast as the character are taking their toll – and a bigger pay day.

Iron Man 3 has grossed over $680 million worldwide after only 12 days of being released, with Downey Jr. netting $35 million for himself. For The Avengers, he netted between $60-70 million for his participation. But apparently, that’s not enough.

To some media outlets he’s hinted at retiring from the character, to others he’s suggesting Disney show him the money.

On the Daily Show when asked about it all, Downey Jr. said “I don’t know. I had a long contract with them and now we’re gonna renegotiate.”

And that’s most likely his plan.

Using his popularity as the Tony Stark character and generally being an awesome guy to negotiate a better pay day for the inevitable blockbuster that the Avengers sequel will be – or at least, will be if all the characters return.

Disney do not have Downey Jr., nor the some of the other Avengers cast, tied up to the sequel yet and therefore they all have leverage – Downey Jr. most of all. They need him. Tony Stark was arguably the most entertaining character in the Avengers movie and I very much doubt fans will be happy with a recast or his exclusion from the movie.

Therefore, they’ll have to break the bank to secure his services – they don’t really have another option.

Further Headaches

But for Disney, the headache doesn’t just stop with Downey Jr. Other actors from the Avengers movie are also still to sign up and given the global platform the Avengers put them upon, they might get ideas of their own about what pay they’re entitled to.

Obviously, some more than others.

But it begs the question: if it comes down to it, will Disney bow to the demands of their star power or will they push ahead and hope to gain what they can with what they’ve got? That is still very much up in the air.

Charlie Hunnam Featured in new Pacific Rim Movie Poster

As most will already have seen, the posters coming from Guillermo del Toro’s latest movie are as glorious as they are detailed and the latest features Son’s of Anarchy’s own Charlie Hunnam! Check it out!

del Toro’s highly anticipated blockbuster sci-fi pic is scheduled to be released on 12th July and I have no doubt in my mind that it’s going to be entirely awesome.

Neil Blomkamp’s next movie Chappie has got it’s lead

Today it has been confirmed, in a somewhat unofficial way, who exactly will play the lead in Neil Blomkamp’s next movie Chappie! Find out who right here!

Chappie

Back in February, I posted a story stating that Blompkamp’s next movie, Elysium, has almost been completed and provided a few scarce details regarding what his third movie will consist of.

Of course, information regarding the third movie is next to nothing at the moment as it’s only just gotten past the scripting stage, but today an actor revealed via Facebook that he’ll be taking the lead in the movie.

Who? Who do you think? Sharlto Copley of course.

Copley of course was brought to the attention of Hollywood with his simply outstanding performance in Blomkamp’s first big budget movie District 9 and will also feature in his latest Matt Damon sci-fi piece Elysium. Now it seems, Copley will be doing the hat trick.

I have to say, I’m happy about the who affair. I loved every Copley performance I’ve seen and every Blomkamp movie I’ve ever seen. I’m also majorly impressed that Blomkamp seems to be resurrecting the sci-fi genre single-handed.
